Les Carrières de Saint-Dominique ltée was founded in 1938. Since then, this family business has experienced and continues to experience sustained growth. Les Carrières de Saint-Dominique ltée have always been at the heart of the development of our beautiful region.

A company in constant evolution

Almost 85 years in production
crushed stone

We own approximately 30 million square feet of land to produce crushed stone, agricultural lime, concrete, recycled materials as well as abrasives at a competitive price. Our materials are also used in the manufacture of RCC (roller compacted concrete) through our portable Pugmill-type plants.

 

The company has four quarries for the production of stone, the main one being that of Saint-Dominique. We hold several certifications demonstrating the quality of our products. Our specialists are in constant training in order to acquire the most recent knowledge and are always on the lookout for new technologies in order to improve the quality of our products in order to constantly meet evolving standards.

 

In addition to being a regional leader in the production of crushed stone, Les Carrières de Saint-Dominique ltée expanded the family by acquiring five concrete plants in the Eastern Townships: Béton Granby, Béton Memphré in Magog, Produits de Ciment Couillard in Coaticook, Béton Aimé-Côté in Sherbrooke and Béton Suprême (2008) in Lac-Brome. These plants were acquired in the 2000s and are added to the two plants in Saint-Dominique and Saint-Hyacinthe. Subsequently, in 2017, we acquired certain assets and the commercial component of Ultramix concrete.

 

To date, during the high season, nearly 240 employees work for Les Carrières de Saint-Dominique ltée.

In health and safety, 0 work accidents

The OHS committee, made up of members of management as well as employees from the various divisions,

meets once a month to discuss the follow-up to be done regarding certain situations

and make suggestions for prevention.

The employees sitting on the OHS committee become, in a way, the spokespersons for their colleagues. They are constantly listening to them and collecting ideas to improve safety throughout their division and, by extension, throughout the company.

 

In order to monitor the achievement of our objectives, we acquired a digital display that indicates the number of days without work accidents. The purpose of this device is to motivate the employee to work safely and to encourage him to submit his ideas or recommendations on health and safety at work.

Reduce risk

In terms of health and safety, training and information are essential communication tools. At the beginning of each year, training is given to employees. Likewise, we actively participate in the Colloques-CSST. Finally, we also call on the CSST Youth Squad, which provides training to employees aged 25 and under. A monthly meeting on prevention in the workplace is also organized.
